Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
The English Commission will still be meeting Tuesday night to make plans to respond to the Shelter in Place Order today by the City and County of San Francisco.
However in light of the Order, gathering at the church for English Worship services is suspended until further notice.
All English Commission sponsored fellowship groups are likewise suspended.
The Saturday Food Pantry will be continued as it falls under an explicit exemption in the Order for Food Banks.
We know there are many questions. Over the next few days we’ll be updating everyone on next steps and alternatives to worshiping together. We’ll also be coordinating with the Mandarin and Cantonese worshipping communities, and sharing that information. The Deacons are working on a communication strategy to help keep us connected through telephone and technology.
As we now move into a new phase as the greater Bay Area adapts to this evolving crisis, I want to encourage everyone to pay attention to the updates coming from local governments and practice social distancing when you need to go out. Remember that grocery stores, pharmacies, and other essential businesses will remain open. Some of you may remember an old tv commercial for AT&T “Reach out and touch someone.” I want to encourage you all to stay in contact through the phone, email and texting. (NO actual touching, though: social distancing!)
With blessings and with prayer in these changing times.
Pastor Don and English Commission
